Adjectivenovel (comparative more novel, superlative most novel) Positive novel Comparative more novel Superlative most novel From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. A novel is a long narrative in literary prose. The genre has historical roots both in the fields of the medieval and early modern romance and in the tradition of the novella. The latter supplied the present generic term in the late 18th century. The further definition of the genre is historically difficult. Most of the criteria (such as artistic merit, fictionality, a design to create an epic totality of life, a focus on history and the individual) are arbitrary and designed to raise further debates over qualities that will supposedly separate great works of literature both from a wider and lower "trivial" production and from the field of true histories. To become part of the literary production novels have to address the discussion of art. The construction of the narrative, the plot, the way reality is created in the work of fiction, the fascination of the character study, and the use of language are usually discussed to show a novel's artistic merits. Most of these requirements were introduced in the 16th and 17th centuries, in order to give fiction a justification outside the field of factual history. The individualism of the presentation makes the personal memoir and the autobiography the two closest relatives among the genres of modern histories. From Wikipedia under the

I was thinking of Gone With the Wind (ive just heard of it a lot). But I need suggestions! Thanks so much! Asked by cheerchic1194 - Thu Oct 9 18:32:36 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I did The Great Gatsby in 8th grade that was great. I was in accelerated english and english lit so I also did Tomorrow When the War Began by John Marsden (although that's Australian) and Looking For Alibrandi (also Australian). They were great books. Um, you could always do a Shakespeare play? Macbeth is a foolproof one, same with the Merchant of Venice and A Midsummer Nights Dream. Q. I'm really new at writing, but I'm educated in it and I know how to write and everything, but I just don't know where to start. I want to write a teen romance novel, and I usually start with an outline, but a small one at that, then a more detailed outline, a rough draft, then the final draft. But that was more of an essay or a short story with an assigned topic, so I really don't know where to begin. Should I use those methods, other methods, or should I just dive right in and start writing? HELP! Asked by moomoo22189 - Wed Aug 1 00:15:27 2007 - - 9 Answers - 1 Comments A. You start with your homework. A strong outline, detailed character studies and tons of research. You must become an expert on whatever it is you want to write about. To fake it cheats your readers, and they will know. No author just dives in. The prep work to write a novel takes several weeks to several months depending on the amount of research you need to do. I must tell you teen romance novels are becoming overkill and a lot of agents and publishers aren't reading them now. You are likely to spend a lot of time on the slush pile with a lot of other teen romance writers.
