Q. Should the US have gone to war with the Soviet Union after WWII because of Espionage? Soviet spys stole highly secret information about the manhatten project , among other things, which allowed them to develp the A-bomb much sooner and for much less money than if they would have on their own. If the US went to war with Soviets right after they discovered the spying it could have stoped their development of the A-bomb not to mention that it would have crippled them and prevented the cold war and would have for atleast a very long period of time given the US a monopoly over the A-bomb. From what I have read, the US had enough nukes by 1949 (the year of the first Soviet test) to get the job done. We even had the hydrogen bomb by 1950. So yes, we could have defeated the Soviet army if we had used all those bombs, but I think world opinion would have turned VERY strongly against us when the death toll was revealed. A decapitation attack on Moscow that killed Stalin and the Communist Party leaders might have worked too. Answered by Alex - Thu Apr 12 17:17:12 2007 How far should America go to obtain oil? Q. Q. Do you think the United States would have risked losing World War I had it not passed the Espionage and Sedition Acts and taken other steps to suppress dissent? Why or why not? Asked by love_life_happiness5 - Wed Apr 1 14:18:56 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The United States has never risked losing the First World War. If they had not intervened in the war on the side of the triple entente. Probably would have been the Western nations like France and Britain to lose the war.
