Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural phenomena as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting. Many works within the genre take place in fictional worlds where magic is common. Fantasy is generally distinguished from science fiction in that it does not provide a logical (or pseudo logical) explanation for the scientifically impossible events that occur, though there is a great deal of overlap between the two (both are subgenres of speculative fiction).

In popular culture, the genre of fantasy is dominated by its medievalist form, especially since the worldwide success of The Lord of the Rings books by J. R. R. Tolkien. In its broadest sense however, fantasy comprises works by many writers, artists, filmmakers, and musicians, from ancient myths and legends to many recent works embraced by a wide audience today.

Fantasy is a vibrant area of academic study in a number of disciplines (English, cultural studies, comparative literature, history, medieval studies). Work in this area ranges widely, from the structuralist theory of Tzvetan Todorov, which emphasizes the fantastic as a liminal space, to work on the connections (political, historical, literary) between medievalism and popular culture.

What is the most fantasy football points ever scored by one team in a week?
Q. This week I had 178 in a standard yahoo fantasy league. Im sure that isn't the record but I was wondering if anybody knew what was. This is not one of those leagues with odd rules. For instance, in some leagues Adrian Peterson got 88 points in his record breaking game last year. In a yahoo league, that was 47 points.

A. That's a huge week...I think I have the highest in my league and it was like 147 or something. Great question though. Your best be might be to ask on of those "experts" from yahoo. I'm pretty sure you can send them messages, and if anybody had that info it would probably be them. Either that or they would know how to find out.

A. You may want to consider a "term" limit on keepers so someone cannot franchise the likes of a Thomlinson for his entire career all because someone was lucky enough to draw the first pick. This year, as Commissioner of my league, I installed a new rule that each owner loses the pick in the following year for the round in which he/she picked their keeper. Therefore, I picked Larry Johnson in the first round and TO in the seventh round last year. I am keeping TO so I only lose a seventh round pick. It makes keepers more strategic and frees up the likes of a Larry Johnson in this case.

Fantasy is a genre that uses magic and other supernatural forms as a primary element of plot, theme, and/or setting. Fantasy is generally distinguished from science fiction and horror by the expectation that it steers clear of scientific and macabre themes, respectively, though there is a great deal of overlap between the three (which are subgenres of speculative fiction).
