What are some good novels and movies that explore heteronormativity and how sexuality is regulated by it.?
Q. Its for a class that I am doing on sexualities and representation. I want to include other examples besides the set novels and films for class. So far I have include the Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula LeGuin...Any other ideas?

A. I was going to advise non-fiction, the book by the Kinsey's regarding sex, or the movie I think I saw coming out or out about Dr. Kinsey... however-- I see that's not what you're after at all. As I recall sex was a different kind of thing in the book "Voyage to the Red Planet" by Terry Bisson, easily found in second-hand book stores. Or you could perhaps include a book like "Lady of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer, about the 'other' women in the King Arthur legend and what they got up to, especially Morgan le Fey (sp). "Interview with a Vampire" by Anne Rice certainly shows how women are effected by a vampire, and Rice holds nothing back; not a book for most young people. It's very good, though. Hope this helps a bit.

Is Holden an unreliable narrator? What two examples from the novel helped you to figur this out?
Q. "Catcher in the Rye" Just really confused about Holden as a charcter himself and would like your opinions and answer to this question.

A. i remember a part of the book where Holden says that he's a sex machine. and then he's with the prostitute, Sunny, and they don't do it. so there's one example of him being unreliable. another example might be when he wants to call Jane, but then he decides not to because he's "not in the mood." He's unreliable there because he says he'll call her, but then he doesn't.

From the Outsiders, Using specific examples from the novel, why is Soc capital, and greaser lowercase?
Q. I need help with the novel "The Outsiders" by SE Hinton

A. The Soc were supposed to be the elite the popular group. The greasers were the lower class looked down on group in the novel. So that is why the capital "S" and the lowercase "g" are so significant.
