Generally understaood when one says "global warming" are the following three things 1) the climate is warming, 2) man is doing something that is causng the warming, and 3) warming is bad. Of these three, the only truly scientifically demonstrable aspect is that the climate has experienced a general trend of warming for about the past 150 years or so. Before that it went through a cooling period of several hundred years, and before that was a warming trend, and so on.
